Ingredients
- What you'll need:
- 3 tbsp Sunflower Oil
- 1 Onion (grated)
- Salt
- 600g Chalmar 90/10 Beef Mince
- 2 tbsp Mild Curry Powder (You can use medium/hot if you want it to be spicier)
- 1 tbsp Garam Masala
- 2 cloves Garlic (finely chopped)
- 2 Tbsp Tomato Paste
- 1 cup Frozen peas
- 1 Tbsp White Wine Vinegar
- 1 Tbsp Worcester Sauce
- 2/3 cup water
- What you'll need to serve:
- Vetkoek
- Slices of fresh Tomato
- Coriander
- Pickled Red Onion (soak slices of red onion in ½ cup of white wine vinegar, 2 Tablespoons of sugar and a pinch of salt for 10 minutes.)
Instructions
- Method:
- Place a large non-stick pan on med-high heat, add the sunflower oil, onion and a big pinch of salt, and fry until just softened.
- Add the mince and break down with a spatula.
- Fry the mince and onions until they’re just beginning to brown, then add the curry powder and garam masala, stir through and fry for a further minute.
- Now add the garlic, tomato paste, frozen peas, vinegar, water, and Worcester sauce and stir through.
- Simmer for approximately 5 minutes, until the peas are cooked through and the liquid has evaporated from the pan.
- Serve hot with vetkoek, slices of tomato, pickled onions, and coriander.
