Ingredients
- What you'll need:
- Chalmar Oom Pottie Boerewors
- Caramelised Onions:
- 3 Onions (finely sliced)
- 3 tbsp Olive/Sunflower oil
- 1 tsp Thyme
- Pinch Salt and Pepper
- 1 ½ Tbsp White Wine Vinegar
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- Braai Relish:
- 1 can Tomato and Onion
- To serve:
- Toasted Buns
- Grated Cheese
- Mayonnaise
Instructions
- Method:
- Place a non-stick pan on medium/high heat. Add the oil and onions along with the thyme and a big pinch of salt and pepper. Fry for 10-15 minutes until starting to brown.
- Add the Vinegar and sugar and fry for 10 more minutes until the onions are golden, sweet and delicious.
- For the braai relish, simply pour the tomato and onion mix into a saucepan with a pinch of salt and pepper and simmer for 15 minutes on low heat until reduced.
- Braai your boerie over hot coals for approximately 8 minutes, covering with a lid, and turning after 4 minutes. You want it golden but still juicy.
- Toast the buns and slather them with mayonnaise and braai relish, top with grated cheese, boerie and finish with caramelised onions.
- We added the rocket for a bit of colour, but you really don’t need it.
