Ingredients
- What you'll need:
- 3 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 Packet Chalmar Beef Chuck Steak Cubes
- Salt & Pepper
- 1 Onion (sliced)
- 1 ½ Tbsp Smoked Paprika
- 1 Tbsp Cumin
- 1 Tbsp Origanum
- 5 cloves Garlic (crushed)
- 50g Sachet Tomato Paste
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Beef Stock Powder/1 Beef Stock Cube
- 30ml White Wine Vinegar
- Water
- To serve:
- Tortillas/Tacos
- Sour Cream
- Grated Cheese
- Guacamole
- Fresh Coriander
- Chopped Tomato
- Red Onion/spring onion
- Chilli Salsa/Sweet Chilli Sauce
- Fresh Lime/Lemon Wedges
Instructions
- Method:
- Place a heavy-based pot or pan (with a tight-fitting lid) on medium-high heat and add olive oil along with the chuck steak cubes and a pinch of salt and pepper. Brown the steak cubes on all sides.
- Add the onion and fry for a further few minutes until the onions have softened.
- Add the smoked paprika, cumin and origanum, and stir to coat the meat in the spices.
- Add the tomato paste, sugar, beef stock, vinegar, and enough water to cover the meat.
- If you don’t have a tight-fitting lid, place a layer of baking paper between the pot and the lid to prevent too much water from evaporating.
- Simmer covered for 3 to 3 ½ hours, topping up the water every 45 minutes or so (if necessary), until the chuck has softened.
- Remove the lid and reduce the sauce slightly if necessary.
- Remove from the heat and, using two forks, pull the steak apart.
- Serve with tortillas/tacos and any of the additions you choose.
