Ingredients
- What you'll need:
- 2.5Kg Chalmar Beef Short Rib Slices
- 1 Onion (chopped)
- ⅓ cup Brown Sugar
- ⅓ cup Soy Sauce
- 8 Garlic Cloves (peeled)
- 4 tinned Pear Halves
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- ⅓ cup White Wine Vinegar
- Pinch Black Pepper
- To serve:
- Chopped spring onions, fresh coriander, and sides of your choice.
Instructions
- Method:
- Preheat the oven to 180˚C.
- Place the onion, sugar, soy sauce, garlic, pears, sesame oil, vinegar and black pepper into a food processor and blend until you have a smooth but still slightly grainy marinade.
- Place all the short rib slices into a large, high sided oven dish.
- Pour over the marinade and rub into the short ribs, coating them evenly.
- Cover with foil and bake for 2 ½ hours, turning once. (The meat should be tender, and all the fat should have rendered.
- Finish the short ribs on a braai over very hot coals, they’ll only need 2 minutes a side, but this will crisp up the edges and caramelise them beautifully.
- Serve on a large platter with slices of spring onion and fresh coriander along with sides of your choice.
